Pittsford FCU Newsletter Editor
I’ve been designing and editing Pittsford Federal Credit Union’s newsletter since 2008. The design for this credit union in Pittsford, N.Y., has changed over the years, but through it all, I remain dedicated to making sure Pittsford FCU’s members have a clear understanding of what the credit union wants to share with them. Oftentimes, people are so knowledgeable about their particular industry that they can take for granted that not everyone knows as much as they do. When I’m reading the articles Pittsford FCU sends me, I offer them a fresh perspective, one not unlike many of their members. If I don’t understand a financial term or process, I ask for clarification and make sure the text conveys exactly what the credit union wants in a language anyone can understand.
Excerpt:
There is a new and increasingly common scam that has snagged thousands of people. Someone calls pretending to be an IRS representative, tech-support personnel, or the attorney of a family member who is supposedly in jail. In each case, they claim you owe money and request that you buy one or multiple large denomination gift card(s) from a popular retailer to settle the debt. The scammer will give you time to purchase the gift card(s), then contact you again to get the code(s) to expedite payment of the “debt.”
